I was initially attracted to this book because it is set in New Orleans. It is about a dysfunctional family. Victor, the father, has a life that is mysterious to his family. As the story unfolds, you learn more about Victor and his life. Barbara, the dutiful wife, is a character you want to love and admire. Alex and Gary, the children have their own issues with their father. Can you imagine a father dying and no one claims the body?
